Our Values
A Biblical Faith
We value a living faith shaped by the Bible's witness to God's purposes for this world as given full expression through God's love in Jesus Christ.
John 3:16-17; Ephesians 1:8-10
Hospitality
We value the practice of hospitality, whereby all are welcomed as children of God, strangers become friends, and shared meals and a communion table open to all impart food for both body and soul.
Genesis 1:27; Leviticus 19:33-34;
1 Corinthians 10: 16-17; Hebrews 13:1-2
Artful Worship in Spirit and Truth
We value worshipping God in a way that engages the mind, touches the heart, and inspires the Spirit through biblical preaching, diverse music, prayer, and the weekly celebration of the Lord's Supper. We value the full spectrum of the arts as powerful channels through which we perceive God's presence and purpose.
1 John 1:1-4; Luke 10:25-28; Psalm 150
Growth in Discipleship
We value being a community of people committed to lifelong learning and growth in discipleship for children, youth and adults. We value teaching the faith in a way that makes the message of the Bible and the Christian faith come alive for 21st century disciples of Jesus Christ.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Matthew 28:16-20; Philippians 3:12-15
A Servant's Heart
We value reaching out with compassion by serving others and seeking peace and justice. We value generosity borne out of gratitude for God's many blessings. We are blessed to be a blessing.
Micah 6:6-8; Mt 25:31-46; 2 Corinthians 9:6-15
Partners in the Gospel
We value our relationship with our larger church family, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and will contribute to its ministries near and far. We also gratefully claim our place in the Church universal and our kinship to people of faith worldwide.
Luke 9:49-50; John 17:20-26
Prayer
We value the spiritual disciplines, especially prayer, to direct and empower our church's ministries. We are committed to helping persons learn to pray in ways that deepen their relationships with God and others.
